Privacy policy

The short version: you can use MealBudget without an account, we collect as little as we can, and we do not sell your data.

What we collect

  • What you enter to build a list: budget, number of adults and children, how many dinners, dietary preferences, allergens, dislikes, and optionally a ZIP code. This is what the product needs to work.
  • Your generated plans: the meals and grocery list, so you can come back to them.
  • An anonymous browser ID: a random identifier stored in your browser so we can show you your own previous weeks. It is not linked to your identity.
  • Your email address: only if you choose to submit it to save a list.
  • Product analytics: which steps were completed, plan totals, and errors. Personal fields such as email and ZIP are stripped before analytics are recorded.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers on this site.
  • We do not require an account to generate a grocery list.

Shared lists

If you open a shareable grocery list, that page is reachable by anyone who has the link. The link contains a long random identifier and is not indexed by search engines, but treat it as public: only send it to people you want to see the list.

Where data is stored

Data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) infrastructure in the United States. Access is restricted by row-level security so that one household’s data is not readable by another.

Cookies

We use browser local storage for the anonymous ID described above. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices

  • Clearing your browser storage removes the anonymous ID and disconnects this browser from its saved weeks.
  • You can ask us to delete any email address or saved plans associated with you. Contact us and we will action it.

Children

MealBudget is intended for adults managing a household food budget. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
