Ingredients
- 4 bagels
- 5 large eggs
- 2 cup whole milk
- 6 oz cream cheese
- 6 tbsp strawberry jam
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 4 tbsp pure maple syrup(optional)
Method
Butter a 9x13 dish. Cut the bagels into 1-inch cubes and spread them in it.
Dot the cream cheese in small pieces among the bagel cubes, then dot the jam in the same way so both are distributed rather than layered.
Whisk the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt together and pour it evenly over the top.
Press the bagel down into the custard with a spatula, cover, and refrigerate at least an hour or overnight. Bagel is dense and needs the time to soak.
Heat the oven to 350F. Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes, until puffed and set in the middle and browned at the edges.
Rest 10 minutes so it settles, then serve with maple syrup.
